Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu Airport. Upon arrival, met by representatives and transferred to the hotel.
Evening: Rest of the day is free to relax or explore the town.
Overnight at the Hyatt Regency.
Day 02: Please note that visa processing for Tibet will take place on this day.
PM: Sightseeing tour of Swayambhunath Stupa.
Overnight at the Hyatt Regency.
Day 03: Flight from Kathmandu will take you over the Himalayas to Lhasa. Upon arrival, meet and transfer to Lhasa which is 70 kms, 3640 m (Approx. one hour). Check in to hotel. The rest of the time will be at leisure for altitude acclimatization. Overnight in Hotel Dhud Gu or Kyichu.
Day 04-05: 2 full day’s acclimization and sightseeing activities at Lhasa. Sightseeing includes visit to the following places:
Potala Palace: the palace of Dalai Lama, the seat of both religion and politics till 1959 in Tibet. It was built in the seventh century as a fort and later renovated by the fifth Dalai Lama in the seventeenth century to its present specification.
Sera Monastery: It was founded in 1419. The most distinguished and interesting thing here is monk’s daily class of debating.
Jokhang Temple and Barkhor Bazaar: Located in the heart of the old Tibetan town, here you will enjoy fascinating commbination of deep religiosity and shove market economics.
Sangyal Dunku Cliff: Sangyal Dun Ku (Thousand Buddhas Cliff), it was built in 14th century by Duren Pandits and now it is the most holy place for morning activities by local pilgrims.
Norbulinkha Palace: The summer palace of Dalai Lama.
Day 06: Drive to the city of Gyantse (260 kms), 4129 m, 5-6 hours driving. Enroute visit to Yamdruk Lake, 4408 m. It is one of the four holiest lakes in Tibet on the top of Kangpa la pass, 4794 m. You may view the large snow-capped Mt. Nyinchen Kangsang (7191 m). Continue drive to Karola Pass (5050 m). Upon arrival in Gyantse, visit the Gyantse Kumbum Stupa and Paichu Monastery. Gyantse Kumbum was built in 13th century. And is essentially a great multi-chapel stupa with an interior of amazing little shrines that you can visit. The Paichu monastery is in fact the entire monastic complex at Gyantse, within which the Kumbum is located. It was built during 13th century. Overnight in Gyantse Hotel.
Day 07: Drive to Old Tingri via Shigatse, 390 kms, 7-8 hours. Then drive 300 km to Old Tingri via passing Lhatse Country and Gyaltso la pass (5222m). Upon arrival, meet your camping crews for trek from Old tingri to Rongbuk. Overnight at Snow Leopard Hotel.
Day 08: Start trek from Old Tingri along with your camping crews to Lobjang village, 4430m, 4-5 hrs. Overnight tent.
Day 09: Continue trek from Lojang to Base Camo Dekhar La Pass (4650 m). Enroute visit to Chooyu peak base camp, 5-6 hours, 4578 m. Overnight tent.
Day 10: Continue trek from base camp Dekhar la to Draya Bridge, 5-6 hours, 4639 m. Overnight tent.
Day 11: Trek from Draya Bridge to Rongbuk, 3-4 hours, 4890 m. Visit the Rongbuk monastery and overnight at Rongbuk Guest House.
Day 12: Trek to Everest Base Camp which is 8 km, 1.5 hours, 5250m. Explore around the base camp and trek back to Rongbuk. After lunch, drive back to Shigatse through the Pang La Pass (5420 m), 340 km, 5-6 hours. Overnight at Tashi Chota Hotel.
Day 13: In the morning, visit the Tashilunphu monastery. It was built in 1447. This is the official seat of Panchen Lama, second in importance only to Dalai Lama. The particular interest in this monastery is the nine-foot statue of the Buddha of future. After the temple, visit the free market and overlook the Dzong castle. After lunch, drive to Lhasa via middle road. Overnight at Hotel Dhud Gu or Kyichu in Lhasa.
Day 14: Transfer to airport and fly to Kathmandu.
Day 15: Transfer to Tribhuwan International Airport for fina departure.
